BlurtFox is a privacy-first voice memo app. Your voice never leaves your phone. All recording and speech-to-text transcription happen entirely on your device.

What we collect

Nothing. BlurtFox has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. We do not collect, transmit, or have access to any personal data.

Your recordings and notes

• Voice recordings (.m4a) and transcribed notes are stored only in the app's private storage on your device.
• Transcription is performed on-device using the open-source Whisper model. Audio is never sent over the network.
• You can delete any memo inside the app at any time. Uninstalling the app removes all data.
• Content leaves your device only when you explicitly share a note through Android's share sheet or add an event to your calendar.

Network use

BlurtFox connects to the internet for exactly one purpose: a one-time download of the speech-recognition model file (hosted on our GitHub releases, with Hugging Face as a fallback). This is a standard file download — no personal data, audio, or notes are transmitted.

Purchases

BlurtFox offers a one-time unlock purchase processed by Google Play Billing. Payment is handled entirely by Google Play; we never receive or store your payment details. See Google's Privacy Policy for how Google processes payment data.

Permissions we request

• Microphone — to record voice memos. Recording only starts when you trigger it (in-app button, Quick Settings tile, or side-button shortcut).
• Microphone foreground service — to keep a recording running reliably with a visible notification.
• Notifications — to show recording progress and completion.
• Internet — solely for the one-time model download above.
• Ignore battery optimizations (optional) — so recordings are not cut short in the background.

Third-party sharing

We do not share any user content with third parties. There are no third-party SDKs for analytics or advertising in the app.

Children

BlurtFox does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app collects no personal information at all.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
